On christians (three)

Couple of weeks ago, I heard an expert in antic philosophy giving a lecture on "the bible". He said, compared to other philosophical works of its time, and even preceding ones, it´s not only badly written it lacks inner consistency and by the standards of philosophy it is a poor work.

Let´s say I wasn´t shocked by his assumption.


Despite all the years, in which I had to suffer christian indoctrination, there is not much I can recall. Yeah, that fairy tale about christmas of course. The one thing I can remember, they wanted us to think through thoroughly, was the story of Job.

Interlude: Because I needed a quote from this particular book, I had to read it, I got so bored that I asked my sister to find the passage for me. Seems, I am not able to find a text-passage in "the bible". It´s just, well page numbers seem to be the work of Beelzebub or so, because "the bible" has none.

It´s a funny story actually. “god” - full of vanity - has a bet going on with the “devil”. He claims Job will still believe in him, even when he fucks him over big time. Isn´t vanity a cardinal sin? And why does “god” gamble? With the "devil"? Sorry, that´s the unbeliever.

Imagine: Just because he was in mood for some gambling,
Saddam Hussein … no… Adolf Hitler has taken all your property, killed your children and fucked up your health. Would you still be a Nazi?
And if Hitler (he got a lot of these christ-killers, must be a proper christian though) made up for it by giving you twice as much and somehow manages to get you new kids, would you still be a Nazi, worshiping his ways and means?


You know, down here on earth, in the real world, if someone´s coming after you and your kids, and might it be “god”, you just go:

The lord gave, and the lord hath taken away; so: fuck him.
