2003 kündigte der Anwalt, Aufsichtsrat und Ex-Politiker Friedrich Merz eine Reform der Steuerpolitik an. Die Steuererklärung sollte so einfach sein, dass sie auf einen Bierdeckel passt. Vereinfacht wurde nichts.

In 2003 former German politician Friedrich Merz announced a new tax-policy that was going to be so simple, one can does the tax-return on a beer-coaster. Nothing happened.

(Later that night, we got banned from the place where I made this coaster. Damn, I really liked the Wohnzimmer with its old sofas, armchairs, 60´s tables and nice cocktails…)
