copykillscopying

Yesterday, I received a mail from youtube. There were copyright-issues and they deleted a video from my channel. What a bummer. So, I deleted most other vids and quitted my Account.

I put "copykillscopying" online on the 25th October 2008. Exactly two years before. My intention was, to show my friends - and those weirdos surfing the internet - the music I like. Mostly one could find small bits of dnb- and tekkno-mixes, songs I put on for friends and stuff like that. As long as I had an address I put a link to the artist, or the “Rechteverwerter” next to the video. Down here, in the good, clean world of public-relations, we call this “viral marketing”, even if my channel was far away from the gold-standard.
The video this evil, evil company deleted was some kind special. I knew the track from a dnb-mix and loved it. (The track, and my homemade video, described my second-most feared drug.) I did some research, finally finding a tiny label from the UK. Afterwards, it was quite a task to find someone, who sold the track. Eventually, this was the first track, I ever bought online.
I put it on my channel, linked to the label, the artist and the vendor – and got screwed.
