Tenth

A decade of drum´n´bass, drugs and depravity.

I am supposed to attend this party tonight.

My very first dnb-party took place on the very same day, in the same building. Back in the day it was Kabuki spinning the records, today there is Chicken from Giana Brotherz – the ones supposed to entertain my funeral – and the mighty, mighty Cativo. My second CD – yes, Compact Discs still existed at this time, was one from him.
Though, dnb is cool, Cativo is still cool, I am still cool… Nothing changed at all…
Okay, ten years before I behaved like some fierce HipHop-fiend: my feet were nailed to the ground, and I stood in the darkest corner to do some stupid things with my arms. Back then I didn´t even know, what alcohol tastes like. But I already had all the other good stuff. I could party for hours.

Though, this morning I geared myself up with espresso and marzipan balls – and I went running. Last weekend I went to a party featuring Gancher. He is only 19 and from Russia. The young guns take it over - I like it. It´s not like 10 years before with paralyzed legs and epileptic arms. It´s no drinking the whole night, not knowing how I found home anymore – but it´s still awesome. And people are still wearing the same uniform – the ones in white Tees got beaten up.

The thing is: I can´t party the whole night anymore: maybe it is because all the Christmas-food in my veins, or that I am in a bad training-condition, or the other dj´s just sucked. But I felt, I am at a point where one has to decide, whether to take some uppers to stand the nights – deny getting old – or don´t take anything, so you stay ready for the struggles of the following day (family-dinner).

Hmm… I am not good in making decisions...

...so instead of attending my very tenth birthday party, I will go to work.
Easy Listening instead of dnb, Espresso instead of chemo, Entrecôte instead of … hmmm well… chemo.

Following up next year: how I managed it decorating the Christmas-tree whilst yelling at the neighbours´ kids on my front yard lawn, sipping Goldkrone and voting conservative parties…. yeah.
